Mark R. Olson, DVM – Owner
Co-owner veterinarian with the primary responsibility of performing professional services for large and small animals. He enjoys serving and helping people solve problems involving animal and herd health care. Dr. Olson grew up on a farm near Herndon, Kansas, attended high school in Oberlin graduating in 1976, and completed his doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1982 at Kansas State University. He has served on the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association Board, Kansas Board of Veterinary Examiners, and presently as President of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. He is a member of Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Bovine Practitioners, and Academy of Veterinary Consultants.
Derek Pridey, DVM - Owner
Moved to the area in January 2014 as an associate veterinarian for Countryside Veterinary Clinic. He is now co-owner and veterinarian at Hoxie Veterinary Service, P.A. Dr. Pridey grew up on a farm northwest of Leoti, Kansas and completed his doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 2006 at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Pridey most enjoys serving and assisting people with individual animal and herd health needs, as well as providing insight and resources to help them manage their operations. He is a member of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, and Academy of Veterinary Consultants.
Enjoys that every day at the clinic is different and that she is always learning new things. Barbara has been a part of the business since 1987 when Countryside Veterinary Clinic was established. She has played many rolls since the opening and changes to the now Hoxie Veterinary Service but her main responsibilities include: Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Procedures and Policies and much more. She also feels its an honor to work with the staff in a business that is so supportive of clients, community and family.
Grew up in Oakley, Kansas where she graduated high school then went on to study at Colby Community College majoring in General Business and General Education. She is the receptionist focusing on client care. She started in January 2013 and enjoys the wonderful work environment and wonderful people in the community. She currently resides on a farm with her 2 dogs (Nala and Kelso).
Is Dr. Olson’s youngest daughter and has performed multiple small jobs for an extended period of time, but has officially worked part time since 2014. She has been learning and helping in many aspects of the business whether it is working cattle or helping her mom, Barbara, in the office to helping at the front desk. She most loves the flexibility and opportunity to learn the “behind-the-scenes” work to keep the vet clinic going. Mary grew up in Oberlin, Kansas and is married to Spencer Rose.
Registered Veterinary Technician
Rebecca Wentz, RVT
Started in June 2017 and is a Registered Veterinary Technician. Her duties include assisting the veterinarians and animal care. Rebecca attended Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska majoring in Registered Veterinary Technology. She enjoys seeing happy, healthy pets getting to go home with their owners. She grew up in Clayton, Kansas and currently resides on a farm outside of Clayton with her boyfriend Cody and their three dogs.
There is never a day that goes by that she doesn’t learn something new and no two days are the same in this line of work. She is a veterinary assistant and has been with Hoxie Veterinary Service since September 2016. She has learned many positions in the business to help fill in the gaps when needed. She went to Colby Community College and majored in Farm and Ranch Management with an emphasis in Beef. She is currently residing in Colby, Kansas with her dog “Scooter” with hopes of moving to the Hoxie area.
Is currently attending Hoxie High School. She has been a part of the staff since 2015. Her main responsibilities are taking care of boarding and hospitalized animals. Abigail most enjoys being able to be around all of the friendly people she works with.
Enjoys working with the different animals that come in to the clinic. His responsibilities are taking care of boarding and hospitalized animals. Parker is currently a sophomore in high school, helping out after school and on weekends. He joined the team summer 2017.

Is the newest member of Hoxie Veterinary Service starting in the fall of 2017, her responsibilities are to take care of boarding and hospitalized animals. She enjoys that every day is different and likes helping out when ever needed. She is from Selden and attends Hoxie Community High School.
